Sighting - long green glowing tube across the sky

Folks, I have just seen my first UFO. It was a long green glowing cylindrical UFO that moved across the sky. It looked just like a glowing fluorescent tube, like the fluorescent lights in an office. It glowed a light green and did not make any sound.

This wasn't a plane leaving behind a "con trail". Con trails (short for condensation trails) are essentially vapor trails left behind by planes flying at very high altitude. Con trails are like thin streaks of cloud that remain behind as the plane speeds forward. The vapor remains in place in the sky and slowing evaporates.

But in the case of this UFO, nothing was left behind. The back-end of the tube followed with the rest of it. Nothing was left behind, but the whole tube moved along as one solid piece. It remained the same length as it moved across the sky, leaving nothing behind in its wake. So it wasn't a con trail.

Furthermore, the sky was still dark. It was 4:25 AM. The sky was still black, and I could still see stars. There was just a very faint brightening of the sky just along the mountains as the sun's first rays were just then starting to rise over the horizon. But apart from that very thin film of early morning glow behind the mountains, the sky was still 95% black. Con trails cannot be seen very clearly under such dark lighting. Plus, this tube glowed. It had the same glow as the northern lights.

The cylindrical object moved at slightly faster than a commercial airliner. It had no lights as planes do. It was all just one light from end to end and all throughout. I saw no framework. The entire tube was aglow. It was like a flying fluorescent tube.

I could not tell how high in the sky it was, so I can't judge how long it was. From my perspective, if I held my hand in front of me, my arm fully extended, it was just slightly shorter than the width of my hand, slightly. That makes it a pretty long craft, perhaps 10 football fields long, if not longer. It was long!

As for its width, I would say it had the same proportions as a brand new unused pencil, with a similar width-to-lenth ratio. Or the same proportions as a fluorescent light tube. Much the same, in fact.

I live in Vancouver, BC, Canada, right downtown. It moved not exactly overhead directly above me, but slightly north of me, flying over the adjacent township of North Vancouver. It flew in an eastern direction, from west to east, heading toward the rising sun in an almost true east direction. More like in the 60-75 degree direction, where north is 0 degrees and east is 90 degrees. Call it the East-North-East (ENE) direction.

It was brightest when closer to me. As it moved farther from me in the ENE direction, it grew progressively fainter. It seems to have been just outside of Earth's atmosphere because it did not remain in focus like planes do. This UFO slowly faded away when it reached the edge of the sky from my perspective. Because of how it faded away, I would say it was near the edge of the atmosphere. Being that high up adds more clarity to its size and speed. I now realize it must have been much larger than 10 football fields long, and moving much faster than a plane, perhaps twice as fast.

Yet it was silent and did not make any irregular movements. It moved at a constant speed, in a steady direction without any turns or lateral or vertical movements. It was simply cruising straight and steady until it faded away.
