1952 sighting of cigar shaped craft over Mount Vernon, Washington.

Mr. Davenport….I heard you (on Coast to Coast AM some time ago) say you would even like reports from previous years.  This is one such report.
As a child in the fall of 1952 (estimate), my grandmother reported to my step father – a town policeman – that she witnessed a very large cigar shaped airship traveling North to South.  She lived on East Section Street (close to 27th on the east side of Mount Vernon, Wa) and this object was about a block East of her home.
She had been doing dishes and watching East out of a window above the sink.  Her husband, ((name deleted)) was preparing to scald a hog with their neighbor in his back yard.   The craft was almost directly above the two men, and she thought it odd they didn’t hear it and look up.  It was only about 200 feet above them.
She almost leaped to her door (about 10 feet away) to yell at them to look up.  They failed to hear her…..and when she jumped to the door it had traveled about two miles away and was now cruising over Little Mountain.  They did not get to see it.
When she reported to my step father, he laughed at her and I doubt he made an official report.  The next day, however, he was told at work that the chief of police reported that his wife had viewed the craft at almost the same time.  They lived about 1 mile North of my grandparents.
The sightings occurred in early afternoon….sorry I cannot be more specific.
My grandmother said the craft was larger than any blimp she had seen and it was absolutely silent.  She had lived in Anacortes during the war (near where the Navy had a blimp base) and she was very aware what they looked like.  The craft had no gondola like a blimp.  It was light gray in color and she did not report it having any lights.  It had no markings or insignia.
