3 spherical objects hovering close together in the sky then leaving area

My mother, father, and myself were sitting in the spa in our backyard when my father caught sight of something in the sky to our west.  He drew our attention to 3 spherical objects hovering in the western part of the sky from our home.  The objects just hovered there for what seemed like several minutes before departing at a fairly high rate of speed to the south and disappearing.  No sound was noted by any of us from these objects.
