Large red Mars-like planet in the sky then disappeared

Looking E,SE into the Seattle sky from Magnolia where I reside, I noticed a large red ball which resembled a planet.  I took a photo of it because it seemed odd and out of place as I had never seen this before.  This was red in color like Mars, but is was not where Mars would have been in the night sky on September 6th, and it did not move.  
After I took the photo, around 3.5 – 4 minutes later, I returned and it was gone.
