watched for 20 minutes starting at 23:10, blinking or shimmering distant body fairly low in northwest sky. It did not noticeably change its position in the sky but almost appeared to morph into a two piece object, sort of a segmented body, not separate though, just different than when we started watching when it appeared as single round-bodied.

Just checked again at 0:00 with binoculars.  Still there, even brighter and still twinkling with its two closely attached together segments.  Not moving in its sky position.
