large tree size mass like a glowing round clous movingfrom north to south then changed into a cylindrical shape and headed west

A large ball shaped glowing mass looked like it was drifting toward my location headed south at a slow speed. It then changed into a cylindrical shape and headed west . The cylinder shape began extending down toward the ground and disappeared. I would guess the size to be100-150 feet long and about half that distance in diameter. The position of the cylindrical shape was vertical to the ground and the only well defined lines were the vertical outline of the cylinder shape. I did not recognize any surfaces that appeared to be solid and saw no lights The sky was clear of clouds .
