Shiny contrail-less craft following jet airliner

I was admiring tonight's amazing sunset as I walked my dogs. A passing jet had just added a beautiful arcing contrail to the scene and I thought to take a photo of it. Before I could get my phone out of my pocket, however, I saw another craft right behind it. It was extremely shiny and angular. I could not make out much more as I only saw it for seconds (it was nowhere to be seen by the time I got out my phone). What caught my eye was that it seemed to be near the airliner but left no contrail of its own.
I am a Navy veteran and familiar with all types of aircraft. I am also a drone pilot and do not believe this was a drone.
In the photo, the craft would have been in the sky in the area directly above the porch light and slightly below the contrail.
