NARRATIVE

Sighted by two men awaiting the water taxi at the quarter deck when I was duty PO with my messenger. (4)   It was moving slowly south about 800 ft above the Naval Station. It was shining silvery, about 80' in diameter.  When it reached the south end of the Station, I changed course 40 degrees left and accelerated instantly to about 1000 mph slightly upward.   It was reported in the ship's rough log, but never questioned.
