Bright, large, hovering, and fast take off

Was on our way home from having dinner in the town of Summerville, headed towards Lyerly we witnessed a bright white object, looked like a large beautiful star shining, as we got closer to the town of Lyerly the object got bigger and a orange beam resembling a laser shot out down towards the area object was hovering above, we weren’t sure what we just saw so we pulled over and I got out my phone to take pictures/video as we rolled down our windows the object took off faster then a plane over the mountain range towards the Menlo area, the night sky was clear and full. The rest of our party in another vehicle also witnessed this.
