Identified lights to at appeared to be stars at first moving very rapidly and erratically; they changed course abruptly.

While on the back deck last night observing the stars together, my partner and I both started tracking a rapidly moving light high in the Eastern sky. It moved fast and erratically but we were able to track it in our binoculars; it looked as bright as a star. We then tracked another one a bit North of the first. We saw a third for their North of the two with the same movements observed; however, this object seemed to maybe reflect light at a couple points in its flight because it got incredibly bright and then faded making it hard to track as well; it seemed to disappear and reappear at times.
