I was about 11 years old at the time, and a friend of the same age was visiting. We both saw what look like a halo in the sky. Within a few seconds, as if it were lying on top of another halo, they split apart and shot off in opposite directions. We were looking due West, and one went south and the other north. There was no sound or trail of exhaust!
