NARRATIVE

On midnight (very dark night) guard duty while on Louisiana maneuvers in 1942 with 2 other soldiers I observed a light appearing to be an aircraft (we’d never heard of UFOs in those days) flying parallel to the ground.
Suddenly it made a 45 deg turn upward, and for about 10-15 minutes corkscrewed out into the atmosphere, growing dimmer all the while until it finally disappeared.
