NARRATIVE

We were traveling west on I-40. When we reached the junction where the high desert decends to the low desert we observed to our right (N.W.) an Oval object hovering in the sky approximately 1/2 mile from us. We were decending from the high desert plateau. I estimate our elevation when we first saw the UFO was approx. 3500' and the UFO was about level with us but hovering over the low desert.  Our view of it when we first saw it was at eye level. It appeared when we first saw it to be Oval and reflecting the sunlight.  We did not see any identifying marks on the object.  Its' initial appearence was very similar to the numerous UFO's seen over Mexico City in recent years.  However, as it moved away it appeared to elongate to more of a Cigar shape before it was lost from our view.
