12 or so flying objects at a high rate of speed appear to be stars flying in formation

We turned all the lights off in the house and were gazing at the night sky and stars when my 6year old granddaughter said "Look mommy the stars are moving."  Sure enough they looked like stars, all the same size moving from West to East at a rapid pace. some were in formation of a V and some were not.  They all appeared to be going in the same direction at the same rate of speed.  It was weird because we could see planes and their lights were blinking, but these "stars" were lit only by the glow of the moon like regular stars were, no blinking lights at all and going much faster than planes fly, it only took 30 seconds for them to fly by and disappear.
