Large orange orb in sky, East TN.
Time: 10:30 pm, October 12th. 
Location: Dandridge, TN. For reference, Dandridge is in East Tennessee, about 40 miles east of Oak Ridge. 

I was heading to my mom’s place to feed her cat while she was on a vacation, and got onto her road. We both live in the country, and most of the back roads here have sort of limited views of the sky due to the tree canopy coverage. Her road is different in the sense that it’s pretty straight, and so there’s a nice corridor of open canopy and you can get a nice long view of the sky. 
As I turned onto this portion of road, I noticed a ball of dull orange light in the middle of the skyline that was visible to me. As I got closer to it, my angle of sight on it changed if that makes sense, like it was close enough that its position in the sky changed as I approached. Not like a planet or a star that’s so far away, it pretty much stays stationary in the sky. My super smart buddy says it’s called parallax. 
Even though I’m HEAVILY invested in the UAP/UFO/alien topic and have been for years, I immediately always assume things are explainable. I instantly just tried to tell myself it’s either a planet that’s visible, or a plane that’s so far away that I can’t see the blinking lights at my angle. 
But as I got closer to it, its position in the sky came closer and closer, like it was only a few hundred meters over the tree line. I also noticed that it wasn’t really “moving”, it wasn’t headed in any sort of direction but seemed to sort of bob around in relatively the same spot, it could’ve even been totally still, I can’t be sure. 
As I got closer to my mom’s place, I remembered I had just downloaded one of those apps that shows you where all the stars and planets and everything in the night sky is, so I figured I’d use that and see what it was. When I pulled into the driveway, it was practically right over the field across from her house, but I lost sight of it from a large tree in her front yard. I quickly parked, scrambled for my phone, pulled up the app, and as I ran to the front yard, it was gone. I pointed my phone towards where its last location was in the sky, and the app showed nothing there, while it did accurately pick up the constellations around the area. 
When it wasn’t in the sky where it had been not even 20 seconds earlier, I instantly got a tingling sensation go down my spine, and just felt “off”. 
My best friend is a drone guy, a tech wizard, and someone I’d consider an expert on drone tech and regulations, so I asked him about flying at night, blinking light requirements, and all that stuff, and he got back to me saying in his opinion what I saw wasn’t a drone, or at least if it was it was breaking the law, and had the strangest light setup he’s ever heard of. 
Still can’t be totally sure, but something in my bones tells me it wasn’t normal. I completely understand that I have my own biases for wanting it to be a UAP, and I get that this story isn’t exactly juicy or super compelling, but it’s just been in the back of my mind these last few months. I swear it felt like it knew we saw each other, I know that sounds crazy but it is what it is.
