Saw one of the drones close up
Time: Dec 21st 2024 7pm ET

Location: Between Chester IL and Perryville MO

Last night my wife and I were heading to get groceries. She spotted an odd looking set of lights. Green and red lights with white lights flashing in succession under neath it. We assumed it was a small plane until we got closer. It was about 500ft in the air, and very very quiet. I opened the sunroof to get a better look as it flew directly over us. I could clearly see that it was a fixed body drone, about the size of an SUV with a flat tail and flashing white lights on the bottom. I tried to get a video of it but I couldn't get an angle. With it flying back and forth over our car. We pulled over and watched it for a sec before going to the store. It was doing tight circle on the road next the airport. 


About an hour later, going back down the same road we spot it again, this time a bit further away between the field and the airport. It wasn't nearly close enough to make out features but it was definitely the same craft. It made a very very quiet humming sound. I was surprised and skeptical but it is definitely one of the drones being talked about in the news
