Glowing V Shape or Boomerang Craft in Chicago Area

Location: Chicago area (western suburbs)

Saw a huge glowing V shaped craft tonight. It was moving very fast from roughly southeast to northwest. I only saw it for a second and it seemed to disappear or fade out. It almost didn't look real, and it was so fast, I've never seen anything move like that except for a meteor. 

This was 20 miles west of Chicago. I was outside around 8:45pm when I saw it, but it's hard to estimate how high it was. It made absolutely no sound, and it was glowing reddish orange! Still can't understand what I saw.

I live very close to O'Hare... this was not any kind of plane I've ever seen. There were a ton of planes flying around at the time, but this seemed to be much higher up.
