orange ring blinking, does loop de loop then disappears

Left my house and noticed Venus or whatever in the sky and stopped to admire what I thought was also Mars and got in my car. Realized that the orange thing was too big to be mars and kept staring as I was leaving neighborhood, which is when it started blinking briefly. I stopped my car at the exit of the neighborhood and noticed it was dark in the middle, as opposed to a solid orange circle. The orange ring did a loop and slowly moved southeast before disappearing. Forgive me if this is too hard to believe but even the deer were fixated on the orange ring.
