Bright orange light, about the size of a pea at arms length, moving slowly from the west to NE. I was a soldier, stationed at Ft. Monmouth, NJ at the time of the sighting. As I walked west towards my barracks on a cold clear night in Dec., I first noticed the object at about 30 deg elevation. It moved steadly on the same course for about 20 seconds. Then, it abruptly stopped without decelerating for what seemed to be a minute or so. It abruptly restarted, at the same speed as before and remained on the same course. This behavoir repeated two more times. Then the object zipped up at about a 70 deg. angle towards the NE, getting smaller as it disappeared in about 2 seconds. During the observation period there was no sound, and no change in brightness or color.

Saw this in 1954 at the Dona Ana Army rifle range in New Mexico. When the separation of targets from the shooter is large, at each target below the ground is a pit for immediate evaluation of accuracy after shooting. Once, on such target marking detail, during a brake period between groups of shooters I saw a wingless cigar shaped object flying at a moderate speed in a straight line at approximately 10,000 to 15,000 ft elevation.

I was approximately 12 years old when I saw this UFO. I haven't told a lot of people about it. I thought because I was so young at the time that no one would have believed me. Anyway, we lived in a hotel in downtown Denver. I had stayed over at at friends house and had ate supper with his family. Anyway when I headed for home I had to walk past the City and County Building. It looked like it was going to snow, the clouds were real thick and hanging low. As I walked across a the light by the City and County Building all of sudden out of the clouds came a fireball shaped like a basketball. It appeared for several seconds and then went back into the clouds. I thought it was so odd because it was so cloudy. I don't know if anyone else had seen this to this date.

I saw the craft go across the horizon. It appeared to be on fire, I first thought it was a plane going down. It landed near a farm house and it was observed there. After a short time it took off. While marching on a bivouac maneuver in (?) September 1954, I caught a glimpse overhead of a disc-shaped, metallic in color object that just came from nowhere straight down and stopped. The bottom was concave and very distinct in detail. I was called upon to "eyes front" while I marched, but I couldn't help but look back up and when I did, it just shot straight up from a large disc to nothing. What I mean is, it shot up at such speed that it kept getting smaller and smaller and then disappeared. I know what I saw and can draw a very vivid picture of it if needs be. It was definitely not a weather balloon ! ! I've never spoken of it. You just didn't do that. Until now. Thanks for listening.
